Hacking Health Waterloo Hackathon this Weekend

Our first annual Hacking Health Waterloo Hackathon is a weekend-long hackathon that breaks down barriers to healthcare innovation by bringing together IT and healthcare professionals to collaborate, dream up & design apps, devices and solutions for patient-centric care.

 We are still looking for participants and ideas. Even if people can't attend the event they can still contribute by adding their idea to our sparkboard so that others can work together to come up with a solution. http://hhwaterloo.sparkboard.com/public

This year’s theme: Brain Health, Aging and Wellness

Our Hackathon Challenges:
  • Emergency Department Visits: Solutions that reduce or avoid unnecessary emergency department visits for older adults living with dementia.
  • Falls prevention: Solutions that prevent falls, or mitigate injury due to falls, in older adults with dementia.
  • Aging at Home: Solutions for better management of complex chronic conditions in older adults with dementia who are living at home.
  • Cognitive Fitness: Solutions that improve brain health or cognitive fitness in older adults.
We have some amazing prices lined up.
AGFA Healthcare: $1,000 cash prize.
Desjardins Insurance: $500 cash prize.
IBM: $48,000 worth in credits for IBM Softlayer and Bluemix services. Total of two licenses for one year.
Canadian Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation at Baycrest: $15,000 worth of onsite team workshop with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
PointClickCare: $10,000 worth of one-day onsite consulting services with PointClickCare Business Development, Security Compliance, and Technology teams.
Signal UX: $5,000 worth in three-days UX prototype consulting services.
CareAcademy: $1,000 worth in one day consulting services.
OpenSky Incubator: $500 worth in three one month membership passes to OpenSky Incubator.

Grad students needed to mark reports for PD2

WatPD is currently seeking graduate students to mark reports for PD2: Critical Reflection and Report Writing from late-March to early-April. Students in this course must write a 16-20 page report which is worth 50% of their final grade. With over 1500 reports expected to be submitted, we need your help! Strong candidates for this position will have: ·          a desire to support students in an online learning environment ·          previous marking and/or teaching experience (preferably post-secondary) ·          strong written communication skills ·          an ability to correct quality of writing errors ·          a good understanding of English grammar and syntax To be eligible for this position, you must be available for training sessions in March that are held on campus at the University of Waterloo.
