NSERC/CIHR master's postgraduate scholarship or the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS)

Fourth year students considering applying for graduate studies in 2016 and planning to apply for an NSERC/CIHR master's postgraduate scholarship or the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) will find the application deadlines and links to detailed information about these competitions and the eligibility requirements on the School's main web page for Current Graduate Students:

Applicants please note that transcript order deadlines are not flexible and failure to meet these will result in disqualification of the scholarship application.

OGS applicants need to apply directly through the university(ies) to which they are applying for graduate studies and are bound by each institution's deadlines and competition processes. If not applying for graduate studies at Waterloo, OGS applicants should consult the external university web sites for the OGS competition information.  Waterloo requires a hard copy OGS application submitted to the CS Graduate Office in DC 2599 by the deadline in the web page above.

NSERC and OGS applicants are advised to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements before requesting the two required references and completing the application.  In particular, undergraduate applicants need to ensure their GPA is significantly higher than the minimum eligibility requirement as academic excellence, evidenced by academic grades and previous scholarships/awards, are counted as 50% of the evaluation criteria.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions after reviewing the scholarship information on the Waterloo Graduate Studies Office web pages or on the NSERC/CIHR web pages for your competition. Quick links to these are provided on the web page above.
