Full-stack developers


anyWare is a SSHRC funded interdisciplinary/inter-institutional research creation project between Fine Arts (University of Waterloo - Assistant Professor Jane Tingley), Game Design, (Sheridan College - Professor Cindy Poremba), and Software Engineering (author of OpenSCAD - Marius Kintel). The goal of anyWare is to design an interactive, distributed sculpture, in three different locations in the world - Vienna, Toronto, and MontrĂ©al, that incorporates game design in order to structure interaction. We are seeking motivated and responsible students to work on this project. 

1. We are seeking highly motivated students who can contribute to software development for the project. This includes core and distributed logic, backend development and DevOps, as well as embedded and physical computing.
We are looking for full-stack developers with experience with agile methodologies and knowledgeable in one or more of the following fields:

• node.js (MEAN stack)
• Distributed Systems
• REST API design
• Cloud and devops
• Embedded and physical computing

2. We are seeking highly motivated students to work on the game development aspect of the project. Ideal candidates will have experience with Unity, familiarity in JavaScript, and interest in game and puzzle design. This position will include coding and prototyping interactions with 3D game objects. Experience networking for multiplayer games is a valuable asset, but not necessary.

York CVR Vision Science Summer School



The Centre for Vision Research (CVR) at York University offers a one-week, all-expenses-paid undergraduate summer school on vision science.  This year's program will be held June 1-5, 2015.

The program includes talks by CVR faculty on current research topics in vision science, as well as hands-on experience in CVR laboratories. The curriculum reflects the wide range of research areas at CVR, which includes research on human visual perception, computer vision, visual neuroscience, 3D film, immersive environments, and disorders of vision.

The program will accept 24 undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in scientific research.  It is intended mainly for students who are planning to apply to graduate school in the fall of 2015, and who are interested in investigating vision science as a possible area of research. Citizens of all countries are eligible.

The program provides on-campus accommodations, breakfast and lunch each day, and reimbursement for transportation costs.

iOS developer wanted (part-time)

We are a small project team experimenting with various new user experience designs and developments for mobile apps based on the latest research on Internet data security. We believe this venture has the potential to make profound impacts on day-to-day Internet usage.

We are looking for a talented, hands-on, and entrepreneurial individual to join and help shape the user experience and mobile app development.

Responsibilities include designing and building advanced applications for iOS platform, and cooperating with other team members to brainstorm and define new features for the application. The ideal candidate should have some knowledge and/or experience (intern experience counted) of commercial mobile app development in iOS platform. Experience with Objective-C/Swift/Cocoa/Touch, image editing/effects/Camera and mobile social networking applications are preferred.

This position requires some teamwork, but predominantly will be completed from home at your own time (Part-Time).
