The objective of the CAIP program is to use a multidisciplinary and multi-scale analysis by integrating modeling of biogeochemical and hydrological processes with GIS, remote sensing, computational technologies, and social science to identify and manipulate diverse data on ecological, environmental and climatic issues, to study environmental sustainability of integrated terrestrial and aquatic systems at a river basin, to analyzes their impacts on the Athabasca River and its landforms, and link the outcomes within a decision framework.

Qualifications

A PhD or equivalent in ecosystem, environment, engineering, climatology or other closely related fields

  • Expertise in ecosystem or environmental modelling is essential with good understanding of biogeochemical or hydrological processes.
  • Strong skills and experience with programming languages (C, C++, or Fortran) and ability to design concept of model, algorithms and database
  • Good record of peer-reviewed scientific publication

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in modeling of biogeochemical or hydrological processes, with experience in conducting model testing and coding. The four positions are fixed term positions for a period of 2 years for the first time and subject to review every six months with possible renewable on mutual agreement. The fellowship is valued at Canadian $35000 ~ $50,000 per annum, depending on experience. This is an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic and ambitious researchers to use state-of-the-art approaches to make an impact in a fast-moving field of research.
