Google Scholarships

At Google, we believe information should be universally accessible.  Our education and scholarship programs aim to inspire and help students become future leaders in computing and technology by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from entering these fields.  If selected, scholarship recipients will each receive a $5,000 CAD scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year and be invited to attend the all-expense paid Annual Google Scholars' Retreat at the Googleplex this summer.  Scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of applicants' academic background, leadership, and demonstrated passion for computer science.

Google Anita Borg Scholarship is open to current female undergraduate or graduate students who will be studying at a university in the United States or Canada for the 2014-2015 academic year.
 
Generation Google Scholarship is open to current undergraduate or graduate students from an underrepresented background in computer science who will be studying at a university in United States or Canada for the 2014-2015 academic year.
 
Google Lime Scholarship is open to current undergraduate or graduate students with disabilities who will be studying at a university in United States or Canada for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Call out for volunteers! CS4U DAY

Help students in grades 8 - 12 learn about computer science at Waterloo. Lectures and hands-on activities will be led by our talented faculty.

Volunteers will receive a free CS t-shirt and lunch - 20 volunteers are needed!

An volunteer orientation session will be taking place on Wednesday, November 27 from 4:30 – 5:30 pm in DC1304.

FounderExpo Event in Kitchener-Waterloo

FounderExpo gathers student entrepreneurs from universities and gives them the opportunity to pitch to VCs one on one. Whether students have an existing businesses, a prototype built, or a simple idea, FounderExpo provides them with the opportunity to pitch a VC for a seed investment. VCs and mentors from OMERS, MaRS, the BDC  and other funds will be in attendance.

Microsoft Tech Talk

Microsoft is hosting a Tech Talk discussing their creation of Xbox 360’s web browser! The talk is presented by Arnab, a senior software engineer in the Platform engineering team at Xbox. He will be talking about the application development model for the Xbox 360, and the unique challenges that went into creating a browser for the 360. UofT: Molecular Genetics Information Sessions

The Molecular Genetics Dept at U of T (http://www.moleculargenetics.utoronto.ca/index/) is hosting two graduate information sessions on November 15 and 19  that are open to all undergraduates and/or MSc students interested in exploring graduate opportunities at U of T.  Our department encompasses almost 100 different labs and we're particularly interested in recruiting undergraduates with diverse science backgrounds including biology, biochemistry, chemistry, mathematics, bioinformatics and computer sciences.
