The Hour of Code is Coming

This December, to celebrate Computer Science Education Week, we’re organizing a massive campaign to encourage 10 million students (and adults) to try an Hour of Code. This will be the largest initiative of its kind, ever.

Please help us recruit your local school, community organizations, or even your company to participate.

What’s the Hour of Code?

It’s an introduction to computer science designed to demystify “code” and show that anyone can learn the basics. There will be a variety of hour-long tutorials everyone can do - on a web-browser, tablet, smartphone, or even with no computer at all.

How can you help?

  • At your local school: Share this handout with your teacher or the principal.
  • At your company: Share this handout with your manager, or the CEO.
  • In your community: Use this handout to recruit a local group - boy scouts club, church, university, veterans group, or labor union. Or host an Hour of Code “block party” for your neighborhood.

Calling all students – regardless of age

Computer science is an important foundation for all students, for all careers. Too many people think programming is hard or requires math; the Hour of Code is designed to inspire.

Help your school win a computer lab

Code.org will gift 50 class-sets of laptops to 50 lucky schools, one in every state in the US. Ask your local school to plan an Hour of Code for every grade to qualify.

    The area of the new hour of code where you can go for the coding. If you are the student of computer science then this is the helpful place.     There is the new hour of the code with the better treatment or section. Just find your link with the nice behavior and read more with the bright colors. You can also find the new section of the science with the better field.

Grad students needed to mark reports for PD2

WatPD is currently seeking graduate students to mark reports for PD2: Critical Reflection and Report Writing from late-March to early-April. Students in this course must write a 16-20 page report which is worth 50% of their final grade. With over 1500 reports expected to be submitted, we need your help! Strong candidates for this position will have: ·          a desire to support students in an online learning environment ·          previous marking and/or teaching experience (preferably post-secondary) ·          strong written communication skills ·          an ability to correct quality of writing errors ·          a good understanding of English grammar and syntax To be eligible for this position, you must be available for training sessions in March that are held on campus at the University of Waterloo.
