Join our team developing and administering leading edge, non-stop, global 24x7 financial trading systems. We develop real-time trading applications utilizing the latest hardware running Linux OS. You will work with a small but demanding group of technical and non-technical users. Our growing team seeks a talented C/C++/Linux X Window programmer to work on components of our trading systems – enhancing the existing systems, developing real-time GUI displays and directly supporting technical and non-technical users.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with distributed multithreaded systems with a strong emphasis on performance and latency.
  • Develop real-time, X Window GUI displays for financial trading systems.
  • New development and enhancement of existing systems.
  • Design, code and test new applications ensuring correctness.
  • Work closely with analysts and other groups to provide software solutions.

Requirements of the Candidate include:

  • C/C++ programming experience.
  • University education with background in Computer Science or related field.
  • Excellent analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Experience with Sybase, Tibco/Rv, Wombat and other various third party solutions is a plus.
  • Multithreaded applications preferred but not required.

Candidates with limited to no experience can apply for the Jr C++/Unix Programmer position.

  • Testing and implementing real time quantitative trading models using Unix, C/C++, Sybase, Splus, SAS, Tibco, and other various third party technologies.

Requirements of the Candidate include:

  • Must possess 3+ years of professional C/C++ programming experience.
  • Masters or PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science or another Quantitative field.
  • Experience building large scale computation systems.
  • Experience implementing real time quantitative models.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Must be a strong self-starter and able to work well independently.

The successful candidate will design and develop distributed, multithreaded systems focusing on high performance and low latency.

Requirements of the Candidate include:

  • 5+ years of professional C/C++/UNIX programming (experience in finance industry preferred).
  • Solid background in developing low latency, multithreaded and high performance systems.
  • Experience with FIX engines and electronic trading platforms in liquid financial markets is a plus.
  • Proven understanding of design patterns, object oriented design, distributed systems and software architecture.
  • Solid understanding of Messaging Middleware concepts, usage and application.
  • Experience in TCP/IP networking, sockets programming and large projects.
  • Degree in Computer Science / Engineering or closely related field.

Twitter’s Revenue (ads) engineering team is like a startup within a larger startup, and is expanding rapidly. This is the team which is responsible for monetizing Twitter by showing highly relevant ads to users. We are looking for solid Software Engineers and Data Scientists. The team currently has dozens of bright minds from the top schools (Stanford, Berkeley, MIT, IITs, etc.). We work on real-time serving systems and also big data technologies (like HDFS, Hadoop). We aggressively use and contribute to open-source systems. An example is Scalding, which is a framework for writing Hadoop jobs in Scala - which was open-sourced by this team.

WiSTEM General Meeting


WiSTEM is a student-run club aiming to give students a place to share their interest in this gender topic. In general, it seeks to promote the participation of women in underrepresented fields. The club is open to anyone regardless of gender, age, or educational background. Our focus is on how we can foster an inclusive community for everyone studying and working in STEM. Software QA Engineer Position Available

Location: Waterloo, ON


About the Role:

In this role, you will be required to work closely with both the QA and Development teams for test case creation and execution. You will also be involved in code reviews and test case automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as a QA (Test) Engineer by closely collaborating with Testing, Performance and Development teams
  • Genuine interest to come up with innovative ways to test/break the software and find issues which otherwise customer may find later

Qualifications

Required Experience/Skills & Education:

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Python automation, API Testing, Performance Testing, Security Testing, and Agile Methodology
  • Candidate must have good knowledge of windows PC technologies and basic network related concepts
  • Candidate must have good written and verbal communications skills and must be a strong team player
  • Candidate must have a good attitude towards work and must be self-motivated

Call for submissions for "Notes from the Margin", Fall 2013

Hi everyone,

The CMS Student Committee (Studc) would like to invite you to submit an article for the next edition of Notes from the Margin, which is due to come out in Fall 2013.

We are accepting opinion pieces,math-related stories, puzzles and riddles as well as concise research-related articles.

The Margin a semi-annual publication whose articles are intended for a wide audience and should be accessible to all the people in the mathematical community starting from the second/third year undergraduates. It is delivered electronically to virtually all the Canadian undergraduate and graduate math students. In addition, the hard copies of the Margin are sent to the math departments of all the Canadian universities. For our most recent issues, check out our Issue page at http://issuu.com/cms-studc.
