Researcher Positions at HP Labs

HP Labs seeks candidates with a doctoral degree in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer
Engineering with a strong background in systems research. We aim for fundamental as well as applied research that advances the state-of-the-art while driving significant business impact. Our research areas of interest include topics in networking and mobility (but are not limited to):
  • Mobile systems, platforms and services
  • Mobile cloud architectures and services
  • Mobile and multi-media networking
  • Mobile sensing and context awareness
  • Mobile security (for applications, platform, system, or network)
  • Enterprise wireless networks
  • Enterprise, datacenter and cloud network technologies
  • Cloud and large-scale distributed systems
  • Programmable software-defined networks, Network controllers
  • Network monitoring, management, anomaly detection
  • Network virtualization
  • Network security
  • Network quality-of-service (QoS)

Experience with software and hardware development, real deployments, test-beds, or datasets is also desired.

Research Engineer Positions at HP Labs

HP Labs seeks candidates (i) with a doctoral degree in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering or (ii) with a master degree with significant software development experience. Candidates should have a strong background in systems prototyping and development. We aim for fundamental as well as applied research development that advances the state-of-the-art while driving significant business impact. Our research areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
  • Mobile systems, platforms and services
  • Mobile cloud architectures and services
  • Mobile and multi-media networking
  • Mobile sensing and context awareness
  • Mobile security (for applications, platform, system, or network)
  • Enterprise wireless networks

Qualified candidates should have at least the following skill set:
  • Strong programming and systems building skills
  • Deep working knowledge in one of the following: C, C++, JAVA
  • Experience in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Javascript

In addition, any of the following skills are a plus:
  • Working experience with at least one mobile OS (Android/iOS/Windows Mobile)
  • Working experience with embedded systems
  • Working experience with wireless device drivers
  • Knowledge of wireless networking protocols

Grad students needed to mark reports for PD2

WatPD is currently seeking graduate students to mark reports for PD2: Critical Reflection and Report Writing from late-March to early-April. Students in this course must write a 16-20 page report which is worth 50% of their final grade. With over 1500 reports expected to be submitted, we need your help! Strong candidates for this position will have: ·          a desire to support students in an online learning environment ·          previous marking and/or teaching experience (preferably post-secondary) ·          strong written communication skills ·          an ability to correct quality of writing errors ·          a good understanding of English grammar and syntax To be eligible for this position, you must be available for training sessions in March that are held on campus at the University of Waterloo.
